There’s a LOT to look forward to, from warmer color palettes and cabin-styled aesthetics to arched details, checkerboard patterns, and so much more. To help inspire you, our team has come up with a list of some of our favorite up-and-coming details to consider as you embark on your renovation journey. And to make sure we infused every bit of New Market Design Build inspiration that we possibly could, we chatted with every department from our team.

1. Warm Colors Everywhere. From taupe kitchen cabinets to stunning terracotta floors, we are excited to see fresh colors popping up. Whether your style leans modern or cottagecore—or anything in between—these versatile colors promise to add a much-needed cozy touch to any aesthetic.

2. Arches. Whether they’re in a recessed shelving area, a wall nook, a doorway, or somewhere a bit unconventional, arches are here, and we are here for them. This simple architectural detail has the power to add tons of interest to any room, framing key moments in a trendy-yet-timeless way.

3. Organic Styles. As we tap into the nostalgic coziness of the grandpa cabin aesthetic or even the warm minimalist feel of Japandi style, 2024 will focus on the beauty of all the pared-down, nature-inspired feels as we collectively get back to our roots.

4. Things to Make Life Easier. This year will offer more options than ever to make your day-to-day that much smoother, whether it’s in the form of a custom water filtration system to fill (and refill) that oversized Stanley cup, a dedicated composting area in your kitchen to enhance the garden-to-table experience, or something equally helpful.

5. Hidden Gems. There’s nothing like a sweet surprise and 2024 design promises many hidden away behind shelves, sliding cabinet doors, and more. Whether it’s a mirror, a beautiful backsplash, or a convenient pet solution, we’re all about adding bits of interest in unexpected places.

6. Classic Checkerboard Flooring. There are few things as timeless as a checkerboard floor, and we are happy to report that this stunning tile application is coming back in a big way. Whether it’s a classic black-and-white, a rich two-tone marble look, or a warm taupe-and-tan, there’s just something about this pattern that we can’t get enough of.

7. Lavender Haze. Maybe it’s Taylor Swift’s influence, maybe it’s a dose of 90s nostalgia, or maybe it’s just a need to calm down—whatever it is, lavender is going to be everywhere in 2024, and we’re loving it. This hue blends so well with warm colors, is a great accent for everything from paint to textiles, and it gives off all the right notes for a serene space.

Project Spotlight: 2024 Basement Refresh

For one of our first projects of the new year, we’re excited to incorporate some of the trendiest style elements with a classic aesthetic for a truly show stopping basement bar. Our clients love the feel of Modern French style, so our team will be going all out to transform their basement into a speakeasy-inspired space perfect for parties.

The room will feature an arched mirrored back bar with floating shelves to illuminate our clients’ collection of liquor bottles, deep green accents for a lush, nature-inspired feel, and plenty of warm brass accents. The list of must-haves also includes plenty of storage, interesting flooring, and some secret details—like a hidden door!
